Self-Filled Cupcakes

1 chocolate cake mix (plus ingredients to mix the cake according to the directions on the box)
1 8 ounce cream cheese, softened
1/3 c. sugar
1 egg
Dash of salt
1 c. semisweet chocolate chips

Mix cake according to directions on the box. Place paper liners in the cupcake pan. Fill cups half full with batter. In a medium bowl, mix cream cheese with sugar. Beat in egg and salt. Stir in chocolate chips. Drop a generous tablespoon of cheese mixture into each cupcake. Bake as package directs.

Note: These cupcakes freeze well! Perfect to stash in the freezer for a last minute hostess gift or dessert. Freeze them in a ziploc bag, single layer.
